CC OnlineCC Online Troubleshooting Class Access

NOTE: There are times when your browser will prevent you from accessing your class. We recommend using the latest versions of Microsoft Internet Explorer or Netscape. Click here to upgrade your browser.

Problems

The following are common problems experienced by users:

Solutions

AOL Users: browser won't allow you to reload the page:

We recommend to all AOL users that they use either Microsoft Internet Explorer or Netscape Navigator in conjunction with their AOL (instead of the default browser) when viewing our homepage or our online classes.

Your browser won't let you enter a new password/login combination:

This usually means that you must "clear your passwords" -

Microsoft Internet Explorer 5 or above:

  1. Click on Tools on the menu bar
  2. Choose Internet Options
  3. Click on the Content tab
  4. Click on the AutoComplete button
  5. Click on the Clear Password button

Netscape 6.0 or above:

  1. Click on Tasks on the Menu Bar
  2. Scroll down to Privacy and Security and put your mouse over the arrow
  3. Scroll to Password Manager and put your mouse over the arrow
  4. Choose Clear Sensitive information.

Your browser won't let you refresh the page:

Things to try before having to empty your cache:
  1. Press F5
  2. If it still hasn't refreshed, press Ctrl and F5 (Netscape: Shift + F5)
  3. If after doing both of the above, your page still won't refresh, you will need to empty your cache-

Microsoft Internet Explorer 5 or above:

  1. Click on Tools on the menu bar
  2. Choose Internet Options
  3. Click on the Clear History button (on the General tab)

Netscape 6.0 or above:

  1. Click on Edit on the menu bar
  2. Choose Preferences
  3. Click on the arrow next to Advanced
  4. Choose Cache
  5. Click on Clear Memory Cache
  6. Click on Clear Disk Cache

Browser only stores your last login:

Microsoft Internet Explorer keeps the last login name and password (if you chose this option) you entered. Therefore, if you have more than one class, you will have to re-enter the information each time you access a different class. Until Microsoft fixes this problem and gives a choice, there is nothing you can do about it.

Netscape 6.1 offers a choice of login/password combinations. When you try to access more than one class, a login box appears and you can choose which one you would like to use.

Login box keeps popping up:

After the first time you enter your login and password, if the password box keeps popping up, you either have the wrong login information (user name or password or both- see below) or there is an incorrectly linked graphic on the page.

If you can see a new page behind the password box (after the first time you enter the login information), just click "cancel" for the rest of the login boxes. The page will load but the graphic will not (you will see a box with an x in it).

If you have entered the login information incorrectly, please consult the confirmation page you printed after you went through the login process for your class, and make sure you have entered it correctly. Check that your caps lock is off, that the dashes are actually dashes and not underscores, and check for typos. Also, make sure there are no spaces anywhere in the username or password (including before and after both- an errant space will prevent you from entering the web). Try replacing both the username and password instead of using the default one that may already be there.

If you have tried all of this and still can't access your class, please click here to fill out the Webmaster form (please include information on what steps you have already taken to solve the problem).

Page doesn't load after clicking on a link:

First, make sure it is actually a link. Hold your mouse over it and make sure the pointer changes to a hand. Next, check any of the other open windows. Many of our pages are set up to open in a different browser window. If that still doesn't work, close all of your browser windows and start over. If that doesn't work, please click here to fill out the Webmaster form (please include information on what steps you have already taken to solve the problem).

No matter what you try, the login box will not come up:

For some users, when they click on the class link on the student login page, no login box comes up, just an unauthorized user page. It seems to be a popup blocker thing with Internet Explorer. Try another browser, like Netscape Navigator, Maxthon or Fire Fox. If that doesn't work, please click here to fill out the Webmaster form (please include information on what steps you have already taken to solve the problem).

You can't reply to Posts in the Class Discussions:

The Webbot that handles the Reply feature of the Class Discussions is NOT compatible with Norton Anti-Virus. You can post but not reply. First, try updating your Norton Anti-Virus (the newest downloads have fixed this problem). If that doesn't work, try disabling your Auto-Protect while replying or turning Norton off all together. We are working on this one and hope to have a solution soon.

If disabling your Auto-Protect doesn't work, try the steps in this tutorial.

You click on the class link on the Student Login page and nothing happens:

The links on the Student Login page (and some of the pages in the First Time Login process) are designed to open up in a new window. Make sure you disable your pop-up blocker for our site so that theses windows can open.

You lose your login information:

Students are encouraged to PRINT THE CONFIRMATION PAGE when going through the First Time Login and keep it in a safe place. IF you lose your login information, you can fill out the Webmaster Form, making sure to include your class's CRN number. From there, the Webmaster will verify that you went through the First Time Login process and send you your login information.
