Associate in Arts Degree - Liberal Arts/General Studies

Cerro Coso Community College will be providing courses over the next several years via distance learning that will lead to the completion of associate degrees in Liberal Arts/General Studies, Business Administration or Computer Information Systems. For Summer/Fall 1999, Cerro Coso is offering more than 60 online courses and over 90 different sections of those courses. Additional online classes are planned for 2000 and the number of telecourse offerings will remain relatively constant until all requirements for each degree can be satisfied online. Students are invited to enroll in any one or more of the indvidual courses or to commit to enrollment in any one of the three following associate degree programs:

Associate in Arts Degree;
Liberal Arts/General Studies:

The philosophy of Cerro Coso Community College indicates that the educational program of any one student should be composed of courses of study meaningful to the individual and appropriate to his/her own unique life goals. Therefore, the College provides for maximum flexibility of combining courses from broader areas of concentration leading to the awarding of an Associate in Arts Degree. Students who complete the general education requirements and earn 60 units will be awarded the Associate of Arts in General Education.

The Business Administration curriculum at Cerro Coso Community College is designed to develop skills which can be utilized for immediate employment in an increasingly challenging business environment. This major is intended to provide a student with a broad preparation for a career in business. Computer Information Sciences courses are included to provide sufficient background for utilization of new computer tools available to business for increasing productivity.

The Computer Information Systems curriculum at Cerro Coso Community College is designed to develop skills which can be used for immediate employment in an increasingly challenging business environment as well as providing a student with the foundation to transfer to a four year institution to continue studies in Computer Information Systems, Management Information Systems or other comparable course of study.
