Students will be introduced to the process of human development from conception to age two with an emphasis on embryonic, fetal, neonatal, infant, and toddler stages. (Advisory: Level 1 reading, Level 1 Writing classification recommended.) Formerly CHDV C50b.

    • "Infants, Toddlers, and Caregivers", (7th edition), by Janet Gonzalez-Mena & Dianne Widmeyer Eyer.
  • Estimated Time per Week: 4-6 hours
  • Skill Level: Recommended Level 1 Reading; Level 1 Writing. Recommended that students complete the Cerro Coso "How to be a successful online student" one unit course.
  • Special Requirements: A good working computer. Access to a working computer 4-5 days a week. Student should be able to send and receive emails, know how to log into a web site and use the links to progress through the class web site.
  • Assignments & Tests: Two to three exams. One semester project - research/writing assignment (4-5 page paper with references). Weekly discussions - for best scores students should participate in the discussions 4 to 5 days of the week. Two jouranl summary submissions.
  • Proctored Exams: No
  • Additional Comments: This class is only 8 weeks long yet the material to be covered is the same as in a 16 week semester. Students need to stay up with the readings and assignments and not fall behind in assignments. The 8 weeks will pass very quickly.
