Students will be introduced to the process of human development from conception to age two with an emphasis on embryonic, fetal, neonatal, infant and toddler stages. (Prerequisite: None.) Formerly CHDV C50b. Advisory: Level 1 Reading, Level 1 Writing.

    • "Infants, Toddlers, and Caregivers", (7th edition), by Janet Gonzalez-Mena & Dianne Widmeyer Eyer.
    • "The Caregivers Companion" (Readings & Resources to accompany the textbook)
  • Estimated Time per Week: 5-6 hours
  • Skill Level: Computer skills: how to send an email, attaching assignments through the links in the class website, Level 1 Reading, Level 1 Writing Students need to be self-disciplined to log in 4-5 times a week and turn in assignments by due dates.
  • Special Requirements: A good operable computer that can be accessed 4-5 times per week for optimum participation in the online classroom environment.
  • Assignments & Tests: Semester project, weekly discussions (this is a large part of the student's participation grade). Weekly questions from the Caregiver's Companion. There will be three exams. Reflection journals with summaries submitted twice during the semester.
